AUGUST 2026

SUMMER SEASON

We hope your summer has been rewarding, whether you spent it recharging on vacation or investing in improvements to your bowling center. It's been a busy and productive season at Kegel as well. Our lane maintenance team has been supporting major tournaments worldwide, our sales team has been meeting with distributors and attending key industry events, and many members of our organization have participated in the International Bowl Expo. It's been a summer full of travel, collaboration, and commitment to serving the bowling industry.

GET READY FOR THE WINTER LEAGUES

The arrival of winter leagues means more bowlers, more games, and greater demands on your equipment. A quick review of your facility, including the player areas, approaches, and pinsetters, can go a long way toward ensuring a smooth and successful season. Performing preventative maintenance before league play reaches full swing can help avoid unexpected interruptions and keep your center operating at its best. Below, we've included three checkpoints gor GS pinsetters that can help improve reliability and performance throughout the season.

GSX BALL DOOR LOCK MYSTERY

If having trouble getting a ball door lock adjusted, check the U-shaped bracket the lock assembly bolts on to. Years of pressure can cause the weld to crack and allow the locking assembly to flex slightly. This can happen on either side.

SHOVEL SQUARE SHAFT MOVING

A frustrating cause of an elevator jam on the GSX machine is the shovel square shaft moving to the side. This can happen on either side of the shovel. To remedy this, drill a small hole through the plastic and the square shaft and insert a roll pin as indicated in the photo below.

STRANGE ELEVATOR JAM

An often-overlooked place when searching for the cause of an elevator jam is the small rubber mount on the back of the metal plate. There is one on each side of the elevator. To inspect them, remove power from the machine and remove the back cover from the elevator. If replacements are needed, you can order SM-47-014800-000 from your Kegel Pinsetter Parts distributor. The rubber mount also is attached to the center of the elevator with a hex socket head bolt.
